The current COVID-19 pandemic has caused a great deal of unease; with stay at home orders in effect for both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, many of the things that we once took for granted are no longer a possibility.

One of those things is getting documents notarized.

In response to this, the State of Rhode Island has made Remote Online Notarization available to anyone who is a notary in the state of Rhode Island.

Notarized documents are a crucial part of many different transactions, including estate planning, business, and real estate transactions.  In response to this, the State of Rhode Island has made Remote Online Notarization available to anyone who is a notary in the state of Rhode Island – and that includes PK Boston Law

In order for notaries to notarize remotely, they only need to complete a form on the Secretary of State website, indicating that they wish to become a remote notary.  There is also a document outlining specifics of the Remote Online Notarization in Rhode Island.  With this, matters such as closings will be able to occur remotely – without violating the current stay-at-home order.  Any notarizations will still need to be “live,” however through a video/audio system rather than in person.  Although this is currently only available in Rhode Island, we are hopeful that this service will soon be made available in other states as well.

PK Boston can offer online notarizations for Rhode Island transactions. Give us a call and schedule an online meeting with one of our attorneys.

PK Boston Law is a full-service law firm that offers legal counsel to individuals and businesses in Greater Boston and Rhode Island. Our specialties include estate planning, real estate development, debt collections and bankruptcy, landlord/tenant law and civil litigation.
